About us

The Chilterns Green Timber Company is run by local craftsman, Steve Roberts, who lives and works in the Chiltern Hills.

A small woodland owner, he has been milling, air-drying and making use of his own timber for the last 28 years.  Working mostly with mature European larch and oak from his own wood, he has built sheds, wendy houses, summer houses and even an oak framed barn. He has made windows, doors, kitchen units, staircases...

Steve very rarely buys timber. It is his firm belief that, apart from the cost, it makes no sense to be bringing timber half way round the world to the Chilterns when there is so much of our own growing here, all around us. Passionate about the importance of reconnecting woodland owners with local timber markets, Steve is keen to help others to make use, as he has done, of our plentiful local, natural resource.
