Project: Milling oak weatherboards at The Home of Rest for Horses, Speen, 25th March 2009

The gable end of this seventeenth century timber framed farmhouse was in urgent need of re-cladding.

A mature oak tree within the grounds of the estate had blown down and needed to be removed.

Using the slabbing attachment on the mill we were able to produce waney edged boards 5/8in thick with widths of up to 18in.

This single tree which was destined to be no more than firewood produced enough weatherboards to re-clad the farmhouse.
