Project: Restoration of a 15th century barn, Bovingdon Green, 4th October 2010

We were asked to help with the repair and restoration of this 15th century barn.

Sourcing all the oak from a local woodland, we felled the trees and milled them in the woods, before transporting the prepared components to the barn.

The biggest of these, two 'jowl posts', each 10'' x 10'' x 10ft. long and a 20ft. tie-beam of the same cross-section, required the help of a local farmer.

We cut all the joints and prepared all the oak pegs on site and installed all the timbers to replace all the badly decayed oak timbers throughout the building.
